As you can see, today we are going to tell you all you need to know about this talented young woman from Bulgaria! Not only did she hit the big screen, but she is now popular all around the world.

The childhood of a star

The only daughter of Rumyana and Valcho Bakalovi began playing the flute at the age six. Alongside with that, she took singing lessons. Another six years, and her talent for acting took the upper hand. At the time, she was majoring in Drama and minoring in Flute. That rtook place at the National School of Music and Stage Arts in Burgas. As a student, she was a straight-A genius. “I was a super-disciplined child who was reading too many books and got obsessed with Dostoyevsky at the age of 15 or 16,” says Bakalova.

A 25-year-old celebrity

Maria Valcheva Bakalova was born on 4th June, 1996. At the age of 25, the actress lines up with the youngest Bulgarian celebrities that have gained a worldwide popularity! She has been in the show business since 2015, yet her career really peaked after she starred in the mockumentary “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.”

Here is what Maria shares about the movie. Despite all the controversy, the film was a great success. Since then, her fame hasn’t stopped growing, and many offers for new roles keep swarming her mail. Moreover, it seems this is just the beginning.

What to expect

To prevent this from sounding like a wiki text, let’s take a quick turn and look at some of the acress’s upcoming projects.

Bakalova will star alongside Karen Gillan, Fred Armisen and Pedro Pascal in Judd Apatow’s new comedy “The Bubble.” What is more, the story is about a group of actors trying to finish a film in the pandemic.

Another interesting fact: in March this year Bakalova announced that she and her producing partner Julian Kostov were in the early stages of developing a historical drama. Its miniseries have the working title “Freedom or Death”. The plot is based on the 1877–1878 Russo-Turkish War. Therefore, it focuses on the period when Bulgaria gained its independence.

So… yes, looks like that’s pretty much all of the important stuff you need to know, if you don’t want to read the full thing.

By Yassen Kosev, X B class, ELS “Geo Milev”, Burgas Greetings to you, fans of the cinema (and people with too much free time)!
