Last month, in the beginning of May, upon the initiative of the Electronic Media Club in charge of the ELS Newspaper at ELS “Geo Milev” in Burgas, a competition for a short story or essay in English was announced. The idea for the competition was prompted by Alexandra Sarieva – a member of the club and editor of the newspaper.
The theme of the competition was unanimously agreed on: “Awakening”, in honour of the spring renewal of nature, symbolizing also the awakening of the student’s creative nature and meant to be in accordance any with other significant types of awakening that have taken place in the lives of the participants in the competition.
Two short stories have caught our attention and won our hearts!
They shall duly be published in the paper, upon their authors’ consent, and they shall be also shared online.

The first one of them is called “Тhe Controversial Teacups”. The author is a well-known 11-grader from ELS “Geo Milev” – Nikolay Petkov. Having won many prestigious awards in the field of education, now he has again proved his undeniable talent, this time demonstrating skills in short story writing.

The other work is titled “Blooming Spring” and was written by yet another truly talented student – the 8-grader Siyana Zhelezarova. She was also the winner of our Poetry Contest held in February-March this year. In her short story, she has again woven pure magic into a masterful net of words! We are sure it will capture all readers!
Both authors have embodied their thoughts in a unique way, creating for us two beautiful text to enjoy and provoking us to think about the ideas presented!
Well done, aspiring short story writers!
