From 7th to 12th April, 2019 in Bucharest, Romania was held the second meeting of the project GREEN CITY LIFE, in which participated 7 students and 4 teachers from our high school.
The hosts from the National High School “Gheorghe Sincai” had prepared a rich and interesting program. The welcome on Monday was warm and impressive. The students had arranged stands with traditional food from each of the participating countries and had written „Welcome“ in the respective languages. The tour of the school was followed by presentations on environmental topics. We all performed very well.
On Tuesday, we visited the Botanical Garden in Bucharest, where we saw the museum and greenhouses, and then watched a presentation at the Faculty of Biology on the subject of biodiversity in Romania. After lunch, we visited a unique place – the so-called Vakaresti Delta, where we heard an interesting story about its creation, told in a fascinating and humorous manner by a volunteer ranger who works hard to develop and preserve it.
Wednesday was the day we travelled to Bran, where we enjoyed a visit to the castle of Count Dracula,as well as the Mateas Mausoleum, which honours the memory of the Romanian youth who died in World War I. We also saw the beautiful Dambovitsa Cave, located in a breathtaking mountain gorge. Along the way we enjoyed the beautiful scenery, which filled us with many positive emotions.
On Thursday, we visited the Natural History Museum in Bucharest – a unique place that reveals in an interesting and modern way the rich diversity of flora and fauna in Romania. We heard a lecture on the topic that was extremely interesting and informative. After that, the kind hosts organized a walk in the old part of Bucharest, which despite the bad weather and rain, immersed us in the atmosphere of the past. The evening was dedicated to the official presentation of certificates of participation, an event which became a real celebration of friendship and fun.
On the last day of our visit, a meeting of teachers was held to discuss what has been done so far and make plans for future work. The students in the host high school had prepared a flash mob that involved everyone.
The farewell was very emotional, but we all came back to Bulgaria with positive feelings and hope that the friendships we formed will continue to develop.
