“April Fire”

A friend from Sofia visited me last year and stayed at my place for a few days… She left in the morning on 1st April, to go back home.

When I got back home from school that day, I noticed she had left her cell phone at my place to charge – it was still plugged in!
Being a really responsible person, I immediately called her to ask if she had forgotten her phone home.

When she confirmed, I solemnly said that my place had just burned down. I waited for a second and added in sobs that the fire department had said it all started with a pnhone charger plugged into the socket. I hurried to add I had no insurance and all my belongings, including my books and clothes, were gone.

I guess my freind boufght it, cause I could hear her almost crying. I let this go on for about a minute before I asked:
“Do you know what’s the worst part of this all?”
She choked back a “No!”, bursting into tears.
“It’s April Fool’s on you, dear,” I grinned.
She said nothing for a second and then managed a “WHAT?!”

She was sulking for a few weeks after that, so she didn’t even speak to me, but now we are together again and we can just laugh about it.
