A few weeks ago, on November 27 and 28, the Fall East Tournament of the BEST Foundation was held. ELS “Geo Milev” was represented by three teams, composed by members of the school club of Internet research and public speaking who took part in the category of Debates in English.
The varsity team, with its awesome members Malena Malcheva (XI ‘v’), Yasen Zhekov (XI ‘a’) and Denislav Drachev (XI ‘v’), once again proved to be №1 in Bulgaria, winning the first place among many other participants from eastern Bulgaria. Congratulations to our debaters!
They won all five rounds and qualified for the National Competition.
Our other varsity team: Svetoslava Tarpanova (X ‘a’), Ivo Radev (X ‘a’) and Natakia Berbenlieva (X ‘a’), managed to appear in four rounds. The students demonstrated incredible teamwork and public speaking skills, despite the technical problems they faced with the Discord platform.
Our team of novices did not lag behind with their achievements! Dalia Bahchevanova (VIII ‘a’), Viktor Stefanov (IX ‘a’) and Velizar Alexandrov (IX ‘a’) presented our school among the beginners who appeared at the tournament. They debated excellently and managed to qualify for the National Competition. The team got ready in no time, despite the uncomfortable pbstacle of having to do that online.
The success of our teams gathered a huge audience and became a hot topic of conversation. During the final round, in which our XI-grade varsity debaters represented the school while fighting for victory, the influx of spectators even became an obstacle for the normal function of the online room on Discord.
Congratulations to our talented debaters for yet another victory!
They demonstrated the prestige of our high school again!
This time the skills of Malena, Denislav and Yassen were recognized by the BEST Foundation management who invited them to participate live, in Sofia, in a showcase for debates, held before representatives of well-known law firms. The event will take place on 09.01.2022 and will be broadcast online in real time!
Well done, winners! We are proud of you!
