At the beginning of last week, the weather felt surprisingly warm for February. The sun was shining, and it almost felt like spring was coming early. No one expected that the next day the weather would change so suddenly.
Within just a few hours, temperatures dropped and heavy snow started falling. Strong winds made the cold feel even worse, and in many regions, the roads became dangerous. Because of the severe weather conditions, several schools in different municipalities were officially closed. Buses could not operate normally, and students living in more distant towns and villages were unable to travel safely to school.
In our school, the situation was a little different. The building remained open and lessons continued as usual. However, attendance was slightly lower than normal. In most classes, only two or three students were absent, mainly those who depend on transportation from nearby villages or higher-elevation areas where the snowfall was heavier. Students who live in Burgas were still able to attend and follow their regular schedule.
What made the situation even more surprising was how quickly everything changed again. Just one day after the snowstorm, the temperature rose to around 12 degrees and the sun appeared in the sky as if nothing had happened. It felt strange to experience such extreme weather differences in such a short time.
This unusual week showed how unpredictable February can be in Bulgaria. One day can feel like the middle of winter, and the next like the beginning of spring.
