Spring is finally here, and it slowly starts to feel alive… even if the weather is still kinda moody. At ‘Geo Milev’ ELS, we’re all getting ready for more than just spring break from April 4th to 13th — we’re also about to celebrate one of the coolest traditions of the year: Easter.
Sure, the break is awesome, but Easter is more than just time off. It’s a season all about new beginnings and fresh energy. While it started as a Christian holiday celebrating Jesus’ resurrection, it’s also become something everyone can enjoy. Think about blooming flowers, warmer days, and all that spring energy that makes you want to go outside instead of staring at your textbooks.
The Fun (and Yummy) Stuff
The First Red Egg: This egg is painted red to represent health and strength. Around here, grandmas often mark their grandkids’ foreheads with it — basically giving a little blessing for the year ahead.
Kozunak: The soft, sweet braided bread. Baking it takes time, but the smell? Absolute heaven. Definitely makes your kitchen feel like spring.
Egg Tapping (Borene s Yaitsa): Basically, an egg fight. Whoever has the last unbroken egg gets all the luck for the year. Who doesn’t want that?
Beyond the eggs and treats, Easter is a reminder that change is good. Spring is literally showing us that, so why not take a cue? For us students, it’s the perfect chance to rest, think about our goals, and just breathe before diving back into school life.
Even if most of us are just excited about the break, Easter adds a layer of culture, history, and meaning to these days off. It’s more than just free time — it’s a chance to connect with family, traditions, and the season itself.
Hope everyone at ‘Geo Milev’ has an awesome Easter full of laughter, treats, and fresh starts!
