Last month, a group of students from 11th and 10th grade at ELS “Geo Milvev” participated in an exchange program between Turkey and Bulgaria, sponsored as per project Horizon 2100. Due to the COVID situation and the restrictions on travelling, we could visit just some of the most popular tourist attractions in South-Eastern Bulgaria, while our Turkish friends were on an excursion in their own country.

The four-day school trip started with a visit to the ancient city “Deultum”. Later on that day, it continued with a walk around the town of Elhovo and a quick peek inside the tomb of Mezek village. The first day finished with accommodation in the city of Haskovo.

The attractions we visited on the second day were the ancient town of Kabile, the seaside town of Sozopol, the sacred stone complex Begliktash, and then all students had a rest in the small, but picturesque town of Tsarevo.
On the next day, we had the chance to see the exhibits in the museums of Tsarevo, Malko Tarnovo and Nesebar. All tourists had the chance to observe the exotic birds at “Poda” reservation area.
On the last day the group paid a visit to the ancient tomb located in Pomorie as well as the Salt museum there. We also visited the “St. Anastasia” island and our final stop were the museums of Burgas.

The discussion with the Turkish students took place on 7th June. Both the Bulgarians and the Turks talked about their travelling experiences and shared their views on the future of the regions. Photos from the excursion were posted in the assembly hall of the school on the same day.
