The second edition of the hilarious contest held annually at ELS “Geo Milev” has come to an end. We can announce the MEME WARS ‘2022 winners!
Of course, the Internet audience again had the chance to vote and determine the top three fun images, a.k.a. “memes”!
As suggested by the Fulbright volunteer Kedia King, this year’s thematical challenge of the contest focused on “Favorite movie or video”. It was unanimously approved by the ELS Newspaper‘s Editorial Board and all members of the Electronic Media Club. The contestants had to use their favorite movie scene in a controversial, innovative and talented way, featured by an original text in English. The aim was to entertain the readers with a creative and amusing meme: a digital image with a fun message intended for the newspaper’s online audience.
Meme Wars ‘2022 started in mid-October, right after the official launch of the extracurricular club activity at school. The deadline for all submissions was 5th December. From the received digital works, 13 were approved for participation, as per the contest regulations. The online voting was valid until midnight on 10th December. The lucky memes with the highest number of “likes” on the ELS newspaper’s Instagram and Facebook accounts got the top places!
The awarding session took place on 12th December, in the Creative room.
The happy winners received an official certificate signed by the Principal, Jaqueline Neicheva. Each of the awardees also received a packet with a USB-memory, a fun souvenir and “a sweet award” provided by the head of the Electronic Media Club, Valentina Atanasova.

The happy authors whose works got praised and part of the Electronic Media Club had a short discussion about the message conveyed and the actual idea hidden behind each submitted meme. Everyone agreed that the works were original, creative and comprehensive enough.

The memes have now been exhibited on the 2nd floor of ELS “Geo Milev” and will remain there until mid-January next year.
